Job summary

Minnesota Department of Transportation in Roseville, MN seeks a project manager to oversee a portfolio of Minor to Moderate projects. You will lead a project management team, ensure quality and deliverables, and coordinate communications with the public, partners, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Professional Civil Engineer licensure required (PE) or ability to obtain licensure through comity.
  • Knowledge of pre-design, final design, planning, traffic, state aid and construction processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities.
  • Knowledge of MnDOT standards and federal, state and local laws related to transportation planning, design and construction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and ability to engage with the public, officials and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage quality of project deliverables and organize a project management team.
  • Provide leadership to ensure timely completion of products or tasks.
  • Coordinate internal and external communications for the project.
  • Manage project risk and coordinate with team to minimize risk.
  • Manage project scope and process changes, including dispute resolution.
  • Oversee financial aspects of projects and monitor budget allocations.
  • Handle multiple projects concurrently.

Job description

This position exists to provide project management responsibilities for projects or tasks ranging from Minor Projects to Moderate Projects for the Metropolitan District. The responsibilities of this position include the management of the quality of the products produced, organization of a project management team and providing leadership for the team to ensure the completion of the products or tasks, managing the communications specific to the project or task; including both internal communications and external communications, managing the risk associated with each project and coordination with the project team to minimize risk and/or manage the risk, management of the scope of the project and the process to change the scope, manage the process to resolve disputes, and manage the financial aspects of the projects or tasks. This position will be responsible for multiple projects at one time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through Comity (Reciprocity).
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of Pre-design, Final Design, Planning, Traffic, State Aid and Construction.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and priorities.
  • Knowledge of MnDOT standards and federal, state and local laws, regulations, policies and codes as they relate to transportation system planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation.
  • Human Relations skills that demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the public, businesses, elected officials and other governmental organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing sufficient to give direction, facilitate meetings, make public presentations, presentations and answer project specific and policy questions and to write letters and other documentation.
