Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience as a system administrator for Brightspace by D2L.
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting instructional use of Brightspace by D2L at a large research university.
  • Practical knowledge of the factors involved in evaluating third-party tools for integration with a learning management system.
  • Practical knowledge of instructional tools like Turnitin, Respondus Lockdown Browser & Monitor, and Top Hat.
  • Knowledge of pedagogical principles for teaching at the college level, and their application to the use of technology for teaching.
Position Summary

The University of Georgia (UGA) seeks an organized and engaged leader to join the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) as Senior Assistant Director for Learning Technologies. This individual will have experience managing and/or providing support for a learning management or similar system, with an eye on effective use of that system by a broad set of users. The incumbent will provide leadership to a large group of learning technology support personnel across campus, while contributing their specific expertise to the work of the CTL. The Assistant Director for Learning Technologies reports to the Senior Associate Director for Teaching and Learning, collaborates with a variety of campus partners, and benefits from UGA’s participation in a multi-institution Learning Technology Consortium.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Practical knowledge of learning management system administration.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies in instructional settings, and to train others in the effective use of those tools.
  • Ability to take leadership among peers and partners from other units.
  • Ability to develop and execute programs focused on the use of learning technology in teaching.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information about learning technology across a range of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, administrators, and graduate students.
  • 2 years of experience supporting instructional use of a learning management system.
