Job summary

The Los Angeles Lakers in El Segundo, CA is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting.

The role reports to the Chief Accounting Officer and Vice President - Finance and manages staff, processes revenue recognition across ticketing, sponsorships, and merchandise, and supports audit readiness and internal controls in a fast-paced, seasonally driven environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum seven years in corporate finance with supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA and/or CMA; further certifications preferred.
• Experience in professional sports, entertainment, or venue management preferred.
• Proven leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close including journal entries.
• Ensure GAAP-based financial reporting and consolidations.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and COA.
• Coordinate multi-entity consolidated financials (teams, facilities, foundation).
• Oversee revenue recognition for ticketing, media rights, sponsorships.
• Lead external audits and compliance with IRS and NBA rules.
