Overview

Assistant Controller role based in the Los Angeles area. Base pay range: $135,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr. This section reflects the responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations for the position.

Responsibilities

Mentor and train accounting staff to ensure high performance standards in financial and accounting activities.
Present financial information to staff and management in a clear and concise manner.
Support the Controller/Treasurer in overseeing and managing the Accounting Department. Accounting & Fiscal Management
Perform reconciliations of complex accounts, including investment funds and sick/vacation accrual balances.
Oversee and prepare general ledger expense allocations, account reconciliations, and journal entries, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
Review contributions, restricted funds, and account reconciliations for accuracy.
Research, analyze, and respond to internal and external financial inquiries.
Perform treasury services including wire transfers and cash management.
Assist the Controller with annual audits, insurance renewals, and compliance reviews.
Assist with preparation of annual federal and state tax reporting requirements.
Review and assist with preparation of annual operating and capital budgets; monitor and report on budget-to-actual variances.
Assist with preparation of timely and accurate financial statements.
Manage and oversee the Corporate Credit Card Program.
Serve as liaison with investment advisors, custodians, and banking partners.
Support the Controller/Treasurer on technology-related projects, particularly related to MAS 100 and Salesforce (Fireforce).
Provide staff training, develop financial reports, and collaborate with programmers to improve reporting systems.
Identify and implement process improvements to increase automation, efficiency, and scalability.
Assist in the development of new reporting processes and systems.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the Accounting Department and overall organizational goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or Master’s preferred).
Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting practices.
Experience with MAS 100, Salesforce (Fireforce), or similar accounting/ERP systems preferred.
Demonstrated ability to produce accurate financial reports, initiate projects, and develop solutions.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Proven ability to maintain discretion and handle sensitive, confidential information responsibly.
Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
