Job summary

AmSpec is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to strengthen accounting quality across a global, multi-entity business. You will lead close cycles, review journal entries, balance sheets, and drive process improvements into repeatable monthly routines.

This senior finance role partners with regional teams, handles external audit support, and shapes control frameworks across entities, with ownership of deliverables and staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA or equivalent preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with month-end close and external audit.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge and ability to research and resolve issues.
• Experience in a multi-entity or international business with cross-time zone collaboration.
• Experience with ERP/consolidation systems; NetSuite and Oracle FCCS/Hyperion helpful.
• Proficient in Excel-based analyses and improving manual processes.
• Detail-oriented, able to set standards, and train reviewers.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly/quarterly close for entities and consolidation workstreams.
• Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and aged items.
• Establish close control framework across entities with clear ownership.
• Coordinate financial statement prep and external audit support.
• Partner with treasury/systems on interfaces and data quality for FCCS/NetSuite.
• Improve fixed assets and lease accounting processes and subledgers.
• Train reviewers, supervise staff, and ensure timely deliverables.
