Job summary

Gilbane Development Company is seeking a Director, Asset Management to lead asset management strategy across a portfolio of purpose-built student housing and market rate multifamily properties. This role drives asset-level performance, protects downside risk, maintains capital discipline, and creates long-term value throughout the investment lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of real estate asset management, investment management, acquisitions, development, or related role.
• Experience with market-rate multifamily and purpose-built student housing assets.
• Experience with development assets, lease-ups, stabilization, and repositioning.
• Strong financial modeling skills and ability to translate data into strategy.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive asset-level and portfolio-level plans from development through disposition.
• Partner with Development, Acquisitions, and Capital Markets on deal origination and due diligence.
• Provide independent asset management perspective on market assumptions, operating performance, and capital needs.
• Lead strategy for underperforming assets and coordinate with lenders, investors, operators.
