Job summary

The Rasmussen Group seeks an experienced Asphalt Quality Control Manager & Mix Designer to lead QC and mix design efforts across asphalt production and paving operations. You will guide lab and field testing, review results, and ensure compliance with industry standards, working with operations, project teams, and agencies.

As the technical leader for asphalt quality, you will design and optimize mixes, supervise laboratory personnel, and maintain documentation and certifications while traveling

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Construction Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive asphalt quality control, mix design, and QC/QA management experience.
• Strong knowledge of asphalt mixtures, RAP, binders, and plant operations.
• Experience with Superpave design, test methods, and agency requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage asphalt quality control and QA programs.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain mix designs for multiple projects.
• Oversee lab and field testing, analyze results, and ensure compliance.
• Monitor production and paving to maintain quality and workability.
• Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with operations, project teams, suppliers, and agencies.
• Prepare mix design submissions, reports, and documentation.
• Ensure equipment, procedures, and certifications remain compliant.
• Supervise lab staff and promote a culture of quality and improvement.
• Stay current on asphalt technology and regulatory changes.
