Job summary

Barriere Construction, a CRH Company, is seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant Operator to join the Baton Rouge asphalt team. The role emphasizes coordinating truck dispatch, operating and maintaining plant equipment, and ensuring safety and performance per specifications.

Requirements include at least 1 year of field experience in road or construction outdoors, strong communication, and basic math skills. Candidates must be able to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficient with basic computer/phone/CB radios.
• Basic mechanical skills and math.
• 1 year minimum road or construction outdoors experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates dispatching of trucks and communicates via multiple devices.
• Reads meters and gauges; verifies operating conditions.
• Maintains logs of asphalt production and maintenance actions.
• Keeps plant control room organized and clean.
• Ensures safe work environment and identifies safety concerns.
• Loads trucks safely and processes tickets and paperwork.
• Creates daily plant schedules based on mix needs and capacity.
• Collaborates with quality control to meet specs and adjust blends.
• Troubleshoots production issues and mentors new hires.
