Job summary

The Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) is seeking a Senior Consultant – Staff (ASL) Interpreter to deliver high-quality ASL interpreting across classrooms, meetings, trainings, and events. The role emphasizes professionalism, confidentiality, and customer service within a Deaf-centered, Deaf-led environment.

Expect a full-time, at-will position with a 40-hour minimum weekly schedule during the school year; occasional evenings and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree with formal interpreter training.
• RID Certification or NIC required.
• Five (5) years of diverse professional interpreting experience (excluding educational interpreting).
• ASL proficiency Advanced Plus (Level 4) or higher per CSDB assessment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality ASL interpreting services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind students and staff in educational, extracurricular, and professional settings.
• Collaborate with Deaf colleagues and other interpreters to ensure equitable communication access.
• Follow RID Code of Professional Conduct and CSDB Deaf-centered philosophy.
• Support a variety of assignments including classrooms, IEPs, staff meetings, trainings, and events.

Skills

ASL proficiency (Adv. Plus 4+)

Interpreting experience (5+ years)
