Job summary

Bechtel Global Corporation in Houston seeks a seasoned Construction Superintendent to lead a team of superintendents and craft professionals on a major LNG plant project. You will direct field activities, manage schedules, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure work is performed safely, within budget, and to quality standards.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience.
• Alternatively 17-19 years of relevant work experience may be considered.
• Strong supervision and change-management experience desirable.
• Excellent communication to motivate teams and present plans clearly.
• Experience liaising with contractors and vendors.
• Technical knowledge of heavy industrial civil/piping/mechanical/electrical installations.
• Knowledge of multi-discipline construction/engineering operations.
• Familiarity with ES&S Handbook and Bechtel safety processes.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and coordinates area construction schedules, manning, and material/equipment requirements.
• Controls expenditures in assigned area to keep field operations within budget.
• Responsible for overall supervision of personnel in area of responsibility.
• Coordinates ISBL activities and supervises superintendents, field engineers and others.
• Monitors progress and timely installation of modules and interconnecting components.
• Provides leadership for safety programs and accident prevention on the project.
• Daily coordination with ISBL Superintendent and interface managers.
• Monitors 28 days / 120 days IAP schedule and adheres to milestones.
• Performs work in brownfield areas and liaises with operations.
• Communicates interface activities with operations and other disciplines.
• Leads area-wide scheduling, interface and performance meetings.
• Sets area priorities and resolves cross-discipline conflicts.
• Coordinates with engineering, procurement, and others for timely solutions.
• Monitors subcontractor activities for adherence to specs and schedules.
• Implements corporate/project policies and safety standards in area.
• Coordinates with other disciplines and client representatives as instructed.
• Conducts employee reviews and identifies training opportunities.
• Ensures compliance with Bechtel safety codes and standards.
• Incorporates Zero Accident Philosophy in construction operations.
• Keeps design documents up to date and approves design changes.
• Ensures milestones are completed on schedule and workmanship meets quality standards.
• Verifies permits are in place before work starts and monitors quantity reporting.
