Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Architecture Concepts Associate Director in Chantilly, VA to lead the Architecture Concepts Department across multiple locations. You will guide program offices, define problem spaces, and oversee architecture studies, models, and assessments.

Requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance, 10+ years in space/defense, and strong leadership. Travel 5–10% is expected; relocation benefits and telework options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline, science, or related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in space, intelligence, and/or defense domains.
• Experience initiating and leading project teams, developing project plans, identifying high-impact deliverables, and managing schedule commitments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with employees, customers, Aerospace program offices, and contractors.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally approx. 5-10%.
• U.S. citizenship and active Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director in managing the Architecture Concepts Department, serving as the responsible day-to-day manager for staff at diverse locations.
• Serve as a focal point for program office inquiries and help define problem spaces and implementation plans.
• Build and mentor staff, including interns and early career professionals, to meet demand for department expertise.
• Direct technical activities, organize project teams, and provide decision support as a technical SME and project leader.
• Help steer the department’s strategy and pursue new business opportunities.
