Job summary

Chinook Systems Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineer for its government-focused team in Arlington, VA. You will perform code enforcement reviews and inspections, interpreting NFPA/NEC and UFC standards for critical power systems, generators, EV infrastructure, and life-safety equipment.

Hybrid schedule with visits to client sites and occasional travel. Candidates must hold ABET-accredited degree, 10+ years experience, PE or ICC certification, and U.S. citizenship with active clearance.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience.
• 10 years reviewing design and construction documentation for electrical systems.
• 5+ years with NFPA 70 / NEC and UFC.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ICC Electrical Plans Examiner.
• Knowledge of federal building codes, safety standards and construction practices.
• Strong report writing and stakeholder coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform code enforcement design and construction reviews for electrical systems.
• Conduct surveys, design reviews, inspections, and witness required testing.
• Inspect electrical designs to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Evaluate equipment submittals, test reports, and manuals.
• Act as SME on power generators and related infrastructure.
• Prepare reports on code enforcement activities and maintain records.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure project execution.
