Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Architect to shape the design of our cloud infrastructure. You will own OS, virtualization, and container architecture, driving decisions across multi-disciplinary teams and embedding within engineering development groups.

You will lead efforts on large-scale distributed services, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability, while mentoring engineers and contributing to the roadmap in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Extensive experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant distributed production services using virtualization and cloud-native tech (qemu, kvm, Cilium).
• Advanced knowledge of operating systems, Linux internals, virtualization, hypervisors, and performance optimization.
• Experience with containers and related tech (systemd, Docker, containerd, Kubernetes).
• Demonstrated experience with Linux, Go, Python, Bash.
• Strong understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and public cloud offerings.

Responsibilities

• Own system design and implementation, guiding engineering and aligning with the big picture.
• Build proofs of concepts to help choose technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects on product direction.
• Contribute to and shape the engineering roadmap with stakeholders.
• Develop best practices, share knowledge, and mentor others.
• Collaborate with agile teams to deliver innovative solutions and rapid development cycles.
