Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Senior Architect to lead design and construction for large-scale Capital Improvement projects. You will oversee planning, design, bid preparation, cost estimation, and adherence to schedules and budgets across the city.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, licensure, and several years of experience with renovation and new construction, CAD drafting, and project management. Office-based role with opportunities to drive significant city projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited university.
• Four (4) years’ experience as a licensed architect, including familiarity with construction cost estimating, CAD drafting, project administration, project scheduling, building materials, and methods of construction.
• Equivalency options are listed above, including various degree/experience combinations.
• Current License issued by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners OR architect license from other state(s) with NCARB certificate.

Responsibilities

• Directs, oversees, and supervises architectural design process on renovation and new construction projects; manages design consultant selection, contracting process, and stakeholder requirements.
• Reviews designs for code compliance; manages schedules and budgets; adjusts scope as approved during design.
• Manages construction and implementation; coordinates construction documents for public bid; oversees approval process with design consultants.
• Reviews and approves consultant invoices and construction pay applications; maintains audit-ready records; handles close-out and occupancy turnover.
• Serves as resource to tenants and developers on non-City projects; manages information requests for permits and close-out requirements.
• Oversees staff and interns; monitors timesheets and performance; provides training.
• Drafts and presents reports on scope, schedule, budget, and status.
• Coordinates with internal stakeholders on emergency management, security, IT, operations, and facilities management.
• Attends training to maintain licensing requirements for Architects in the City.
• Performs other duties as needed.
