Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Four (4) years of experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Professional Engineer license in Texas required; license from other states must obtain Texas license within six months.

Responsibilities

• Manages, leads, and provides senior knowledge over engineering design and construction contracts for paving, aviation, facilities, streetscape, alley, drainage, flood control, bridge, sidewalk, erosion control, water and wastewater utilities, fire protection systems, and other infrastructure projects.
• Applies project management principles to support capital improvement projects and feasibility studies.
• Develops and reviews engineering plans to ensure design quality and compliance with City, State, and Federal standards.
• Manages the bidding process for construction contracts; prepares agenda and contract information packages; leads contract execution; informs citizens during neighborhood meetings.
• Oversees complex engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring scope, development, management, and completion requirements are met.
• Oversees research to solve problems, negotiates fees for contracts, and works with Agenda Coordinators to prepare Council Agendas.
• Collaborates with consultants, inspectors, contractors, and agencies to complete projects; participates in consultant selection and contractor evaluations.
• Provides leadership and mentorship to engineers and staff; delivers training and oversees deliverables.
• Performs other duties as needed.
