Job summary

ERM is seeking a Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist to lead multidisciplinary cultural resource projects across the United States. You will guide teams, mentor staff, strengthen client relationships, and help expand ERM’s presence in the cultural resources market.

This strategic leadership role emphasizes technical excellence, business development, and effective communication with agencies and clients. Travel within the US is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field plus 8+ years paid experience.
• Ability to obtain archaeological and cultural resource permits.
• Experience as primary author on agency‑reviewed technical reports.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
• Proficient in permitting regulations for cultural resources (FERC, USACE, THC).

Responsibilities

• Oversee literature review, field reconnaissance, surveys, and excavation for archaeology studies.
• Provide technical consulting to grow ERM’s archaeology practice nationwide.
• Interact with ERM practice areas to share resources and best practices.
• Represent ERM with state, federal, and local agencies; communicate with clients regularly.
• Manage subcontractors and oversee multiple projects within scope, budget and schedule.
