Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking an Archaeologist to conduct Phase I-III fieldwork, perform lab analyses, and contribute to archaeological reports under the supervision of Senior Archaeologists. The role focuses on Texas and nearby states, with preference for candidates willing to relocate to Houston, Longview, McKinney, or Tyler.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in archaeology from an accredited program.
• Must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Qualification Standards for Archaeologists.
• 3+ years’ experience in cultural resources management of archaeology projects.
• 1+ year of leadership experience.
• Experience in Phase I-III fieldwork.
• Regional Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana archaeology experience.
• Writing sample from thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Phase I-III fieldwork to locate and identify resources.
• Monitor archaeology during construction projects or pre-construction.
• Collect data and field samples during investigations.
• Analyze historic and prehistoric artifacts.
• Document methodologies and findings of archaeological investigations.
• Lead and manage field crews; provide coaching and performance feedback.
