Job summary

ERM is seeking a Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist to lead complex cultural resource projects across the United States. The role involves overseeing multidisciplinary studies, guiding high-performing teams, and strengthening client relationships to expand ERM’s cultural resources services.

The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in Anthropology or Archaeology with extensive consulting experience, strong reporting skills, and the ability to travel across the US.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field plus 8 or more years of related paid experience.
• Ability to obtain archaeological and cultural resource permits.
• Demonstrated experience completing inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery.
• Experience as primary author on agency‑reviewed technical reports.
• Strong attention to detail in documentation of work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee archaeological studies and cultural resource projects from planning through completion.
• Provide technical consulting skills to support growth of ERM’s business in archaeology and cultural heritage.
• Interact with ERM practice areas to share multi‑disciplinary resources across the country.
• Represent ERM in communications and meetings with state, federal, and local agencies.
• Communicate regularly with clients via email and phone conferences; manage subcontractors.
• Assist with preparing proposals and manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
