Job summary

Georgia Power is seeking an Archaeologist to provide consultation, permitting, coordination, and support for projects that may impact cultural resources. You will conduct due diligence investigations, oversee surveys, and work with state and federal agencies to ensure compliance with NHPA 106, USACE Appendix C, and SHPO guidelines.

This role requires strong GIS skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in archaeology or related discipline
• Experience coordinating with SHPO, USACE, FERC, and other agencies
• Proficient with GIS software and spatial analysis
• Strong written and oral communication for technical audiences
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Conduct due diligence investigations and project planning for cultural resources
• Oversee archaeological and historic investigations for feasibility studies
• Develop compliance strategies under NHPA 106, USACE Appendix C, and state regulations
• Coordinate with agencies, tribes, consultants, and internal stakeholders
• Review consultant bid packages, reports, and ensure quality deliverables
