Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Power System Studies Engineer to lead arc flash, short circuit, and protective device coordination studies for diverse electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience performing electrical power system studies.
• Demonstrated experience performing arc flash, short circuit, and protective device coordination studies.
• Experience using SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower, ASPEN, or other recognized power system modeling and analysis software.
• Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, protective devices, transformers, motors, generators, and related electrical equipment.
• Familiarity with IEEE, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70 (NEC), and ANSI standards.
• Willingness to perform hands-on fieldwork, including on-site data collection and verification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English with customers and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to travel to customer facilities and project sites.
• Willingness and ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical growth.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical power system studies including Arc Flash Hazard Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis, and Protective Device Coordination Studies.
• Develop, maintain, and validate power system models using SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower, ASPEN, or comparable software.
• Review and interpret electrical diagrams, equipment specs, and protective device information.
• Analyze distribution systems and evaluate coordination, fault currents, and arc flash energy levels.
• Develop engineering reports, recommendations, device settings, and arc flash labeling information.
• Review customer-provided data for accuracy and completeness.
• Participate in on-site data collection and field verification with personnel.
• Identify deficiencies and recommend practical solutions per standards and best practices.
• Manage duties to meet schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
• Communicate findings and deliverables to customers and project teams.
• Maintain commitment to safety, quality, and professional development.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior engineers and assist with their growth.
• Support technical reviews and QA activities to ensure quality.
