Job summary

The City of Northglenn seeks an Aquatics Coordinator II to lead daily operations of indoor and seasonal outdoor facilities, supervising lifeguards, instructors and seasonal staff to ensure safe, welcoming experiences for the public.

You will manage staffing, training, certifications, water quality, equipment needs, and program development, coordinate with maintenance and contractors, monitor budgets and revenue, and respond decisively to emergencies with customer service in mind.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, theatre production or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in an organized recreation program.
• Experience with year-round indoor aquatic facilities, seasonal outdoor pools, lifeguard operations, swim instruction or aquatic programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee daily operations of the City’s indoor and seasonal outdoor aquatic facilities, ensuring facilities are safe, properly staffed, operationally ready and welcoming to the public.
• Directly supervise Head Lifeguards, lifeguards, swim instructors, aquatic fitness instructors and other seasonal and part-time aquatic employees.
• Provide day-to-day direction to staff, establish clear performance expectations and ensure consistent implementation of policies, procedures and safety standards.
• Develop, maintain and adjust staff schedules to provide appropriate coverage based on facility operations and safety requirements.
• Monitor employee certifications and training requirements and ensure qualifications are maintained.
• Develop, conduct and document regular lifeguard in-service trainings and drills.
• Monitor aquatic systems and coordinate with Facilities Maintenance to address issues.
• Inspect aquatic facilities and initiate corrective action for safety or maintenance concerns.
• Restrict access or close areas when conditions present safety, water quality or regulatory concerns.
• Ensure emergency equipment is inspected and available.
• Coordinate aquatic programs, classes and events and manage space, equipment and supplies.
• Monitor program enrollment and finances and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Assist with budgets, purchasing, and revenue monitoring for aquatic programs.
• Serve as a primary contact for aquatic questions from staff, participants and the public.
• Manage online registration and support marketing and recruitment for aquatic programs.
• Provide exceptional customer service and represent the City positively.
