Job summary

Department of Economic Security (DES) in Arizona is seeking an APS Supervisor within the Division of Aging and Adult Services to lead a unit of Adult Protective Services professionals. The role requires directing case intake, investigations, and protective services while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.

In-state travel is required. The position emphasizes leadership, staff development, teamwork, and community collaboration to safeguard vulnerable adults and support program

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, Rehabilitation, Criminal Justice or closely related field.
• 2 years of professional case management/investigation experience (Intake, Needs Assessment, Service Planning, and Monitoring and Evaluation); OR
• 1 year as a Human Services Specialist 3 in AZ State Government; OR
• 4 years exp providing professional case activities noted above, preferably with supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and direct supervision of staff; complete performance appraisals, authorize leave, approve time cards, and manage disciplinary actions as needed.
• Evaluate workflow and implement process improvements; assign cases for investigation and support services; utilize reports and travel as needed.
• Provide technical advice to staff and ensure compliance with federal/state statutes and APS policies; resolve case-related issues.
• Respond to case participants and the public; address concerns and escalate as appropriate; coordinate with DES administration.
• Prepare reports and communicate with management regarding policy, program or employee issues.
