Job summary

State of Washington's DSHS HCLA APS is seeking a Social Service Specialist 5 in Federal Way to supervise a unit of APS investigators and ensure compassionate, compliant investigations. You will lead staff, provide policy guidance, coordinate with law enforcement and tribal partners, and represent the agency in testimonies and reviews.

Strong leadership, clinical judgment, and knowledge of RCW 74.34 and WACs are essential.

Qualifications

One year of experience as a Social Service Specialist 4.
Two years of experience as a Social Service Specialist 3.
Four years of experience as a Social Service Specialist 2.
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with paid social service experience; see notes for substitutions.

Responsibilities

Supervise a unit of Social Service Specialists and manage hiring, training, evaluations.
Lead unit operations with regular meetings and workload distribution.
Provide policy guidance on laws, WACs, procedures, and program requirements.
Review investigations and case documentation for completeness and compliance.
Prepare and analyze reports to monitor trends and workload.
Communicate policy updates and program changes to staff.
Coordinate with internal and external partners and address concerns.
Serve as mandatory reporter and participate in case staffings.
