Job summary

The Department of Economic Security, Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS), is seeking an Adult Protective Services Investigator in Tucson, AZ to conduct complex investigations of vulnerable adults 18 years and older who are alleged to be abused, neglected, or exploited.

This role requires intricate case review, timely reporting, coordination with providers, possible guardianship referrals, and testimony in court.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state and federal statutes and DES/DAAS regulations on reporting vulnerable adult maltreatment.
• Experience applying social work principles to case investigations involving vulnerable adults.
• HIPAA compliance and guardianship/conservatorship processes.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assess complex cases involving vulnerable adults 18+ who are abused, neglected, or exploited.
• Travel as required for investigations within designated time frames.
• Determine services needed and prepare case plans and safety assessments.
• Maintain accurate case files and write comprehensive reports.
• Refer clients for guardianship or conservatorship when appropriate.
• Provide testimony for court appearances and coordinate in-home services.
• Collaborate with clients, providers, and community resources.
• Train and guide new staff as needed.
