Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist for the Robotics Sensing and Compute team in North Reading, MA. You will shape ML/perception systems for production sensing hardware used across fulfillment centers.

You will lead ML experiments, optimize models for edge deployment, and collaborate with hardware engineers to influence sensor selection and compute architecture. This role blends applied research with real-world hardware deployment.

Qualifications

• PhD, or Master’s degree with strong applied research experience.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience building complex software systems with DL/ML for customers.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow or equivalent.
• Experience with 2D/3D vision tasks (object detection, depth estimation).
• Experience optimizing ML models for deployment on resource-constrained hardware.

Responsibilities

• Partner with hardware and science leaders to define sensing and compute hardware requirements for ML needs.
• Develop and optimize computer vision and deep learning models for robotic perception for edge deployment.
• Lead ML experimentation and validation informing hardware decisions for cameras and depth sensors.
• Design benchmarking frameworks to evaluate sensing hardware across use cases.
