Job summary

Amazon Robotics seeks a Senior Applied Scientist to build scalable 3D perception systems for real-time fulfillment robotics. You will lead end-to-end model development, from research to production, optimizing inference latency for edge devices and exploring 3D generative modeling and transformer-based architectures.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree with at least 6 years of applied research experience.
• Experience programming in Java, C, Python or related languages.
• Experience with modeling tools (R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, NumPy, SciPy).
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement 3D perception models for semantic occupancy prediction and scene completion on robotic platforms.
• Own end-to-end model lifecycle: scalable training pipelines, low-latency inference on ARM edge devices, production deployment.
• Design and scale pseudo-ground-truth data generation pipelines to produce curated training samples using SageMaker infrastructure.
• Drive multi-view perception integration by fusing multiple camera inputs for robust 3D reconstruction in occluded environments.
• Influence the team’s technical strategy and contribute to the long-term vision for 3D perception in fulfillment robotics.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions from research to production.
• Maintain high standards through design/code reviews and fault-tolerant, operable systems.
• Prototype and validate concepts via simulation, synthetic data, and live workcell testing.
