Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is hiring a Sr. Applied Scientist to design, implement, and deploy Visual Inertial Odometry and sensor fusion systems for intelligent robots.

You will own the end-to-end pipeline from algorithm development to embedded deployment, balancing real-time performance with resource constraints. You will leverage modern ML approaches to enhance perception, working hands-on with sensors and hardware in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with 6+ years of applied research experience in ML.
• Strong background in VIO or sensor fusion for robotics.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, and Java; ML toolkits.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Visual Inertial Odometry algorithms for real-time state estimation.
• Develop multi-sensor fusion pipelines with cameras and IMUs.
• Optimize perception and tracking for embedded hardware under latency/power constraints.
• Apply modern ML perception techniques to augment geometric methods.
• Build calibration, evaluation, and benchmarking infrastructure.
• Collaborate with hardware, controls, and navigation teams for autonomy stack.
• Lead projects from prototyping through production deployment.
