Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an engineer to translate ambiguous business problems into working AI solutions. This client-facing role requires designing the approach, building end-to-end deployments, and remaining accountable in production.

You will work across discovery, build, and operations and mentor peers while delivering reusable patterns for the team. You will engage with engineers, executives, and end users to ensure practical, measurable outcomes, balancing accuracy, cost, latency, and

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and shipping production software.
• 2+ years building apps with LLMs (prompting, retrieval, grounded outputs).
• Experience evaluating AI system quality with metrics and test sets.
• Strong programming in Python/TypeScript/SQL; API integration across apps.
• Lead requirements conversations with non-technical stakeholders to a technical approach.
• Ability to balance accuracy, cost, latency, and complexity; explain tradeoffs to teams.
• Excellent written communication for client-facing docs and design rationale.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery with stakeholders to understand workflow and decision targets.
• Define measurable success criteria before building (accuracy, thresholds, acceptance).
• Recommend non-AI solutions when appropriate (rules, process changes, interfaces).
• Choose AI patterns (extraction, classification, summarization, retrieval, agentic workflows).
• Decide where workloads run considering quality, cost, latency, and security.
• Build complete capabilities: prompts, retrieval, APIs, data handling, UI, error states.
