Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an experienced AI/ML software engineer to turn ambiguous business problems into production AI solutions. This client-facing role covers discovery, design, development, and production governance across AI lifecycles, balancing quality, cost, latency, and security.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive patterns, and deliver end-to-end capabilities with strong stakeholder collaboration. The role emphasizes deep understanding of AI capabilities, deployment readiness, and measurable

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and shipping production software.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience building applications that integrate large language models.
• Strong programming ability in Python, TypeScript, or SQL with API integration.
• Experience evaluating AI system quality and deploying based on evidence.
• Ability to lead requirements conversations with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery with business and technical stakeholders to understand the workflow, the decision being supported, and the current standard for acceptable results.
• Define measurable success criteria before building, including accuracy targets and acceptance conditions.
• Recommend against AI when a simpler solution is the right one.
• Select the AI pattern appropriate to the problem (extraction, classification, summarization, retrieval, agentic workflow).
• Make and defend architecture decisions on where a workload should run (quality, cost, latency, security, authorization).
• Build the complete capability: prompt/retrieval design, structured outputs, API integration, and user interface.
