People In AI is seeking a hands-on AI/ML engineer in NYC to own production AI systems from concept to deployment within a fast-growing startup. You will ship agents and multi-step LLM workflows that enrich claims data and integrate with existing backend and data pipelines.

This IC role emphasizes ownership, reliability, and rapid iteration while collaborating with CTO, ML, backend, and operations teams to deliver real operational workflows.

• Strong Python and backend engineering skills.

Compensation: $170k - $250k base + equity

Location: New York City (Chelsea) - fully on-site five days/ week

We're partnering with a fast-growing NYC AI startup that's building agentic systems for complex, high-stakes insurance investigations. The team already has strong backend, document-processing, entity-resolution, and fraud-scoring systems in place and is now building its next generation of AI agents and LLM workflows.

This is a hands-on IC role for an engineer with a software background who has shipped production AI systems and wants real ownership from idea through deployment.

What You'll Do
