Onto Innovation is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to lead development, validation, and deployment of advanced inspection solutions across our product portfolio. You will work with Product Development, Systems Engineering, Software, Algorithms, Product Management, Marketing, and customer-facing teams to transform emerging technologies into scalable solutions.

This role supports New Product Introduction, strategic customer engagements, and technical roadmap validation across wafer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 5+ years' experience in semiconductor inspection or related fields.
• Master's degree with 2+ years industry experience in semiconductor inspection, metrology, or related fields.
• PhD in Electrical/Optical/Materials or related discipline is welcome and advantageous.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; willingness to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of advanced inspection recipes for defect detection and yield improvement.
• Design customer-focused workflows demonstrating product differentiation and business value.
• Validate BKMs for global deployment across multiple inspection platforms.
• Drive strategies supporting wafer inspection, advanced packaging, and emerging technologies.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with Systems, Software, Algorithms, Product Management, Marketing, and BU teams.
