Job summary

Onto Innovation in Wilmington, MA is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to lead development, validation, and deployment of advanced inspection solutions across our product portfolio. You will collaborate with Product Development, Systems, Software, Algorithms, and Customer-facing teams to transform emerging technologies into scalable, production-ready customer solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years in semiconductor inspection or related fields.
Master’s with 2+ years of industry experience in semiconductor inspection or metrology.
PhD in Electrical/Optical/Materials/Physics/Engineering or related field.
Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and defect inspection principles.

Responsibilities

Lead development and optimization of advanced inspection recipes for defect detection, classification, and yield improvement.
Design customer-focused workflows that demonstrate product differentiation and business value.
Lead application characterization, benchmarking, and qualification activities for new products and roadmap technologies.
Develop validation plans covering sensitivity, throughput, repeatability, and production readiness.
Deliver technical demonstrations for customers and executives and support strategic engagements.
