Job summary

Samsara is hiring a Staff Application Security Engineer to lead the vulnerability management program across cloud, firmware/IoT, and corporate systems. You’ll drive strategy, define the end‑to‑end process, and scale security tooling for a global, AI‑forward operations platform.

You’ll mentor engineers, communicate risk to leadership, and be on call for critical vulnerability response in a remote US‑based role.

Qualifications

10+ years of relevant experience as a cloud engineer or security engineer.
Ability to independently set technical and architectural direction for a security program.
Significant experience with modern vulnerability management tooling (e.g., Wiz, Semgrep) and deep familiarity with CVSS and EPSS.
Deep understanding of SAST, DAST, and SCA.
Hands-on use of AI/LLM tooling in security workflows—triage, detection logic, remediation drafting.

Responsibilities

Lead the ongoing strategy, operation, and continuous improvement of Samsara's vulnerability management program.
Own and drive down mean time to remediation (MTTR) across the vulnerability backlog.
Build and champion automation and tooling that scale vulnerability detection and response across cloud, firmware/IoT, and corporate systems.
Set technical and architectural direction for the program and translate priorities into an execution plan.
Drive remediation by partnering with engineering teams and reporting via technical program management.
Mentor and level up other engineers on secure design and remediation practices.
