Job summary

MPI in Illinois is seeking a senior CNC engineering professional to coordinate engineering priorities, lead demonstrations, and optimize machining processes for challenging materials. The role emphasizes hands-on involvement in machine setup, programming, prove-out, tooling, and fixture design while guiding a technical team.

The position requires experience with multi-axis machining, mill-turn, and CAM systems, plus strong communication and travel of ~20–30%.

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical teams while remaining actively engaged in engineering activities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering priorities, workloads, schedules, and technical resources.
• Ensure customer demonstrations, turnkey projects, machine validations, training events, and engineering activities are successfully executed.
• Maintain readiness of the Chicago Technical Center and showroom machines.
• Lead IMTS demonstrations, Open Houses, customer events, and strategic engineering initiatives.
• Develop machining processes for heavy cuts, large envelopes, and challenging materials.
• Support customer visits, executive demonstrations, and manufacturing assessments.
• Collaborate with Sales, Service, Operations, Facilities, Marketing, and Executive Leadership.
• Develop engineering standards, best practices, and technical documentation.
• Identify process improvements and remove obstacles to team success.
• Support project delivery including coordination of special machine options and order requirements
