Job Description

Application Engineer

Location: Omaha, NE area and nearby states region

This position is home-based with daily travel to local customer sites within the region. Travel outside the region may reach 50-60%, with all expenses covered and a company credit card provided. A fleet vehicle may be available based on meeting mileage criteria and approval by the hiring manager.

Requirements: U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidates must be able to obtain necessary clearance, including Homeland Security clearance, background checks, and credit checks.

What will you do?
  • Deploy Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) at data center facilities.
  • Work directly with customers, contractors, and end-users, demonstrating strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Perform software installation, customization, start-up services, commissioning, troubleshooting, device communication setup, and customer training.
  • Consult with customers to determine system operation requirements.
  • Install and upgrade EPMS software.
  • Configure and commission Schneider Electric and third-party hardware.
  • Document as-built systems and perform daily travel to customer sites, including occasional international opportunities.
Qualifications for success
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical fundamentals and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network communications and interpret electrical or mechanical drawings.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and out of state (50-60%).
  • Stable work history, excellent communication skills, and a team-oriented, self-motivated attitude.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Building Automation, Systems Integration, or Energy Management Systems.
  • Experience with electrical equipment like switchgear, generators, UPS systems.
  • Understanding of power concepts, communication protocols (Modbus, IEC 61850, BACnet), and computer networking.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (VBA, C/C++, Java, Python), databases, and HTML.
  • Experience with HMI configuration and Schneider Electric proprietary software.

  • Initial training and safety classes online, followed by on-the-job training with a peer.
  • Job sites vary based on client demand, including commercial, industrial, critical infrastructure, data centers, and government facilities.
