Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities seeks an Application Developer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical systems across mainframe, PC, and web platforms. You will consult with users, Analysts, and IT staff from requirements through implementation.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, requirements gathering, and system optimization, located at the Central Office in Cayce, SC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required; an associate or bachelor degree may substitute.
• Experience with modification and maintenance of system programs.
• Design and development of system software; testing and debugging of system software.
• Ability to communicate clearly with users, vendors and IT staff; plan and direct technical work.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise for developers and customers on technical solutions; acts as technical lead and architect for BHDD IT projects.
• Plan and perform in-depth systems analysis to develop requirements for applications.
• Designs, codes, tests, implements, and documents software systems.
• Provides technical customer support for existing systems or data.
• Recommend enhancements to applications and business processes to improve efficiency.
• Complete training for professional growth and assist in training others.
