Job summary

Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager of API & Middleware Engineering to lead enterprise middleware, API standards, and reusable connectivity patterns across core systems.

You will partner with Architecture, Security, Data, AI, and DevOps to operationalize governance and enable secure, scalable integrations. The role combines strategic platform ownership with hands‑on engineering leadership, managing a blended team of employees, contractors, and partners to deliver

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.
8+ years of relevant experience.
Hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
Experience leading blended teams of internal staff and external contractors.
Strong governance, backlog management, and delivery execution skills.
Strong communication across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

Lead MuleSoft engineering delivery and production troubleshooting across enterprise integration initiatives.
Own the middleware platform operating model, delivery governance, engineering standards, and operational maturity.
Provide hands-on technical leadership and serve as a senior escalation point for solution design, reviews, and implementation oversight.
Coordinate with Product Owners, PMO, Enterprise Architecture, Security, Data, AI, Infrastructure, Quality Engineering, DevOps, and application teams.
Lead blended team including internal employees, contractors, and vendor partners with work allocation and performance oversight.
Define and evolve reusable integration patterns, shared services, API standards, connectors, and lifecycle practices.
