Job summary

Atlas Prediction Control, LLC is seeking a Technology Development Engineer for a full-time hybrid/remote US role reporting to the Founder. You will build model-based control tools, simulate strategies, own client relationships and mentor engineers while advancing Atlas’s standards.

Responsibilities include designing MPC tools in Python/MATLAB, leading live plant work, and shaping the technical roadmap. Remote within the US with travel to Charleston, WV as needed.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience developing, deploying or supporting model-based control in continuous process plants.
• Strong coding skills in Python and/or MATLAB, and a habit of building your own tools.
• Experience with at least one commercial MPC platform and familiarity with DCS and historians.
• Track record of running technical programs with minimal oversight and mentoring engineers.
• Comfort working in live plant environments with operations, maintenance and engineering teams, with a safety/quality focus.
• Clear written and spoken communication; documentation of technical work and recommendations.
• Nice to have: Aspen Plus Dynamics, gPROMS or UniSim; client-facing consulting; published/patented work in process control.

Responsibilities

• Design, code and validate tools for MPC, system identification, state estimation and APC monitoring in Python and MATLAB.
• Build dynamic process simulations, first-principles and data-driven, to test control strategies before live plants.
• Own a portfolio of client accounts, scope work, run programs and report results to client teams.
• Mentor junior engineers through specification, testing and commissioning.
• Write functional specifications our deployment team configures and implements.
• Help shape Atlas’s technical standards, roadmap and hiring as we grow.
