Job summary

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to manage vendor invoices, check requests, and payments in a fast-paced, on-site finance environment.

Under the Controller, you will process AP batches, reconcile statements, and ensure timely payments while adhering to university policies; familiarity with Great Plains and MS Excel is preferred; related higher-ed experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Regionally accredited associate’s degree in related areas and/or equivalent of combined education and experience required.
• 3–5 years of work experience in Accounts Payable.
• Experience working for an educational institution is a plus.
• Experience with A/P computer software and MS Excel/Word.

Responsibilities

• Process daily vendor invoices for payment after 3-way or 4-way match.
• Process check requests for vendors, card companies, employees and students.
• Enter and post daily A/P batches to the accounting system.
• Reconcile vendors’ monthly statements and resolve unpaid invoices.
• Coordinate with vendors and departments to resolve credits and refunds.
• Prepare and mail/release checks with CFO approval.
• Upload daily check processing to the bank system and handle exceptions.
