Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation in Austin seeks an Accounts Payable Specialist III to manage invoices, audits, and payments within the Finance Division at the Stassney Campus.

This role requires at least two years of accounting experience; a Bachelor's degree is highly preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and ERP-like systems such as PeopleSoft or QuickBooks is desirable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, or auditing experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration highly preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 and financial systems similar to PeopleSoft, OnBase, QuickBooks, Tableau.

Responsibilities

• Processes and audits accounts payable vouchers, invoices for purchases or contracted services; prepares vouchers for payments.
• Audits, reconciles, reports and provides training on complex accounts payable procedures.
• Examines accounting source documents for accuracy and compliance with rules and regulations.
• Investigates and reconciles complex accounting discrepancies.
• Acts as liaison between employees and banks or other entities on accounting issues.
• Responds to vendor and contractor inquiries regarding financial transactions.
• Produces accounts payable management reports and supports ad hoc committees as needed.
