Job summary

Epic Games is seeking a Senior Technical Designer in Animation to design and implement gameplay animation systems that deliver high-quality character motion. You will serve as the primary contact for animation implementation issues and work closely with Animation, Design, and Engineering to ensure a smooth pipeline.

You will develop animation tools, state machines, and runtime solutions while collaborating with leadership to maintain a high standard of animation quality.

Qualifications

• Strong animation sense with realistic and stylized motion.
• Expertise with animation pipelines and related tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Familiarity with gameplay animation tools and Unreal Engine Animation Blueprints is a plus.
• Experience in AAA game development and large teams using Unreal Engine is preferred.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
• C++ knowledge not required.

Responsibilities

• Create animation behavior tools and techniques for complex movement systems.
• Design and implement animation state machines and runtime solutions.
• Collaborate with Animation, Design, and Engineering to troubleshoot animation issues.
• Maintain and elevate animation style and quality with the leadership team.
• Identify pipeline improvements and create training/docs for the animation team.
