Job summary

Next Step Systems is seeking an experienced Android Software Engineer to design, build and evolve mobile applications powering insurance and financial products. The role focuses on Kotlin-based Android development, AI-assisted features, and delivering scalable, user-friendly experiences from a remote setup.

You will collaborate with backend, product, design and AI/ML teams to optimize performance, security and reliability across devices, while contributing to architecture and testing discipline

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Android development experience with Kotlin and modern Android tooling.
• A must-have AI experience and familiarity with AI-enabled mobile features.
• Strong understanding of Android architecture components and best practices.
• Proven track record shipping production Android apps.
• Solid knowledge of Kotlin/Java, Jetpack, Coroutines/Flow, RESTful APIs and mobile performance.
• Experience with on-device ML frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production-grade Android applications using Kotlin.
• Design intuitive, responsive interfaces for insurance, payments, and workflows.
• Integrate backend APIs for quotations, policy management, claims, and transactions.
• Contribute to AI-assisted mobile features and automation flows.
• Optimize performance, battery usage, and memory efficiency across devices.
• Implement analytics, crash reporting, and user behavior tracking.
• Collaborate with backend, product, design, and AI/ML teams.
• Ensure security, stability, and scalability of mobile systems.
• Improve engineering standards, architecture, and testing discipline.
• Deliver high-performance Android experiences at scale.
