Job summary

Rivian VW Group Technologies seeks a technical leader to build and manage a high-performing Android and Embedded SW team focused on Bluetooth and connectivity management. You will drive software strategy for Bluetooth features on an Android infotainment platform and guide architectural decisions across Android framework layers.

You will oversee integration of Bluetooth features within Android layers, collaborate with product, UI/UX, and platform teams, and establish scalable design standards.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3+ years in an engineering management or technical lead role
• Strong background in Android platform development, including Android framework, HAL, and application layers
• Solid understanding of Bluetooth stack architecture (Bluedroid / BlueZ / Fluoride) and core profiles
• Hands-on experience with Android ConnectivityManager, NetworkCallback, and related networking APIs
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking — IP routing, DHCP, DNS, and network capability management within Android
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin, and C/C++

Responsibilities

• Build and manage a team of Android and Embedded SW engineers focused on Bluetooth and connectivity
• Own and drive software strategy for Bluetooth features on Android infotainment
• Oversee integration of Bluetooth features within Android framework layers (device management, recovery, audio and media subsystems)
• Lead architectural decisions for connectivity management and their interaction with Android framework layers (Connectivity, HAL, Network Manager)
• Oversee software development for building custom connectivity HAL layer to integrate with Android Connectivity framework for handling connectivity switching on distributed ECUs
• Establish standards for modular, scalable software design, promoting reusable design patterns and libraries across the team
• Own the technical design process, guiding developers on architectural choices, design decisions, and resolution of complex technical challenges
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with product, UI/UX, and platform teams to shape feature definitions, resolve bottlenecks ensuring best-in-class Bluetooth and connectivity experience
• Instill a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and accountability within and beyond the team
