Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. seeks an experienced Operations Research/Data Analytics professional to formulate and apply sophisticated modeling to support management decisions.

You will collect, cleanse and analyze data, develop decision support software and produce actionable insights for policy and strategy. Responsibilities include managing project analyses, building models for transportation and networks, and communicating findings to senior management.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Math/Statistics or related quantitative discipline, or Bachelor's with 2 years' experience.
• Five (5) years' experience in engineering, statistics, forecasting, or data analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI or Spotfire.
• Advanced knowledge of Azure cloud services, developing data solutions and machine learning models on Databricks.
• Advanced descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive modeling knowledge and skills.
• Intermediate programming skills and ability to learn new languages, including but not limited to: JAVA, SQL, SAS.
• Intermediate knowledge of relational database systems Oracle, DB2 and Teradata
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) with experience using statistical software and reporting interfaces, data mining tools, machine learning techniques and data visualization
• Leadership, analytical, problem solving, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Identify business opportunities or expand ideas from management to model operational problems and assess feasibility.
• Develop business plans and present recommendations to senior management.
• Lead evaluation of alternative systems or transportation networks using appropriate models.
• Develop and implement data collection systems and analyze trends in complex data sets.
• Research technologies to support best practices; design models for testing and evaluation of proposals.
• Prepare decision analyses and reports for senior management.
• Create multi-media presentations and formal reports for senior management.
• Coordinate project personnel and provide technical mentoring to others.
