Staffmark is seeking a Senior Analytical Scientist for a consulting opportunity in Menlo Park, CA. The role focuses on advanced peptide discovery with nanoLC-MS/MS using Thermo Orbitrap instrumentation, including method development and data interpretation.

The candidate will perform high-sensitivity analyses, optimize acquisition parameters, and support peptide hit identification while maintaining instrument performance and documentation.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mass Spectrometry, or related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on nano-flow LC-MS/MS experience on Thermo instrumentation.
• Experience operating Thermo Orbitrap instruments and Xcalibur software.
• Strong knowledge of peptide MS/MS fragmentation and database-based sequence identification.
• Experience developing and optimizing nanoLC-MS workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-sensitivity nano-flow LC-MS/MS analysis of peptide samples.
• Develop and optimize nanoLC-MS/MS methods and MS/MS acquisition parameters.
• Configure and operate Thermo Orbitrap XL and Thermo Dionex UltiMate 3000 NanoLC system.
• Analyze and interpret LC-MS/MS data for peptide sequence identification.
• Perform instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Resolve nanoLC system issues involving flow paths, columns, emitters, and electrospray stability.
• Document analytical methods, results, and recommendations.
• Collaborate with scientific teams to support peptide hit identification.

Education Requirements
