Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Analyst, Executive Underwriting Priorities to support Caremark Underwriting leadership. You will research, validate, and synthesize information to resolve time-sensitive questions and enable informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.

The role involves diagnostic reviews of pricing and forecasting outputs, coordinating with data teams, and building side analyses in Excel to validate assumptions and quantify impacts.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant professional experience in analytics, finance, underwriting, actuarial, forecasting, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and structured modeling (e.g., INDEX/MATCH or XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables, error checking, reconciliation techniques).
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL concepts for data extraction, validation, and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Research & issue resolution support: Respond to a broad range of ad hoc requests by gathering facts, performing targeted analyses, and producing clear, concise readouts for leadership and business partners.
• Model output investigation & variance analysis: Perform diagnostic reviews to explain changes in results across pricing and forecasting tools/models, including identification of key drivers, input changes, data shifts, and methodology impacts.
• Cross-functional coordination: Partner with stakeholders across the underwriting ecosystem to obtain answers, trace data lineage, and confirm interpretation of results.
• Side analyses and supporting models: Build and maintain analyses (primarily in Excel) to validate assumptions, reconcile outputs, quantify impacts, and support leadership decisions.
• Data handling & querying: Work with structured datasets and SQL to extract/validate inputs and outputs.
• Documentation & knowledge management: Maintain notes and reference materials to reduce rework and ensure re-use.
• Meeting support: Prepare briefs and capture action items, representing leadership when needed.
• Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline recurring requests and improve outputs.
