Job summary

Sony Pictures Entertainment in Culver City, CA, seeks a Senior Analyst for the Content Strategy and Acquisitions team within Global TV Distribution. This role supports valuation across Scripted TV, Non-Fiction, Game Show, Kids and International labels and collaborates with Sales, Finance, Marketing, Legal and Operations.

The Senior Analyst will build valuation models, manage multiple projects, read scripts to inform decisions, and provide regular updates on performance and opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics or other analytical field.
  • 3-4 years' analytical experience in TV/film distribution or related field is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present analysis clearly.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of television licensing and revenue models.

Responsibilities

  • Update and enhance content valuation models for greenlights and acquisitions.
  • Assist with the ultimate review process and communicate values and risks to Finance and Sales.
  • Model financial greenlight scenarios for TV productions.
  • Create tools and templates tracking greenlight requests, contracts, and market trends.
  • Read scripts to inform content valuation and strategic decisions.
  • Proactively track sales and performance to meet targets.
  • Provide regular updates to product owners and collaborate with Insights to identify trends.
  • Synthesize data for audience behavior and market landscape insights.

Job description

The Content Strategy and Acquisitions team within the Global TV distribution organization at Sony Pictures has an opening for a Senior Analyst. The team works closely with the various Production units to greenlight new TV Series and Films for the sales organization to distribute worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly analytical and detail-oriented candidate interested in content distribution.

The Senior Analyst will be responsible for assisting with valuation efforts across SPE's Scripted TV, Non-Fiction, Game Show, Kids and International TV labels. This is a key supporting role with a broad scope, touching on many aspects of the television business and is an integral part of a multi-billion-dollar global sales organization. The role requires exceptional organizational skills and the ability to build trusting relationships among multiple business units including Sales, Production, Finance, Marketing, Legal, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Update and enhance content valuation models for greenlights and acquisitions
  • Assist with the ultimate review process. Ensure accurate and timely communication of ultimate values to Finance and Sales organization, including risks and opportunities, and recommend quarterly adjustments
  • Model financial greenlight scenarios for TV productions
  • Create various tools and templates including but not limited to tracking greenlight requests, contract details across global distribution agreements, competitive landscape and other key local territory information
  • Read scripts and creative materials to inform content valuation and strategic decision-making
  • Proactively track sales and TV performance to ensure targets are achieved
  • Provide regular and ad hoc sales and performance updates to product owners
  • Collaborate with the Insights team to identify relevant talent and genre trends to support content evaluation
  • Assist with content performance analyses and market landscape deep dives, synthesizing data to identify audience behaviors and emerging trends
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree required in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics or other analytical field
  • 3-4 years' experience in a previous analytical role with interest in TV and Film distribution
  • Resourceful with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present analysis
  • Proactive, solution-oriented and ability to propose creative solutions to problems
  • Exceptional analytical, financial and organizational skills; detail oriented
  • Solid understanding of television licensing
  • Ability to navigate systems, financial models, and complex legal agreements, as well as creative documents
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required, Tableau experience preferred
  • Passion for Film and TV

The anticipated base salary for this position is $85,000 to $100,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
