Job summary

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a Senior Equipment Specialist to advise Air Force leadership, troubleshoot weapon systems, and ensure combat readiness of aircraft equipment. This role requires an active Secret clearance and involves complex technical analysis.

You will mentor IPTs, coordinate with program teams, and lead technical evaluations to propose corrective actions with broad Air Force impact. Strong data analysis, writing, and project leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant technical field with substantial DoD experience.
• Bachelor's degree plus 15 years in tech fields with 5 years in DoD.
• 20 years of directly related experience with proper certifications, incl. 8 years in DoD.

Responsibilities

• Support program requirements using specialized databases to identify problem areas and develop solutions.
• Serve as technical advisor to senior leadership on weapon system operations, maintenance, and training.
• Conduct comprehensive studies, reviews, and analyses of technical problems and malfunctions from TARs, DRs, AFTO forms, and aircraft mishaps.
• Evaluate and recommend corrective actions for technical adequacy and economic feasibility.
• Support all levels of program IPTs including engineering, program management, and military/civilian leadership across multiple Air Force commands.
• Lead special research projects and provide technical support to Government equipment specialists and engineers.
• Support trial installations, kit proofs, and TCTO/technical data verification activities.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations to ensure system compatibility and operational requirements compliance.
• Mentor and oversee junior and journeyman personnel within the technical discipline.
• Coordinate with prime contractors, subcontractors, and other Government/private sector personnel.
