Job Description

An Aircraft Maintenance Technician II performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and inspections as required on all APT program aircraft to ensure airworthiness and safe flight operation. This job requires operational knowledge of fixed-wing aircraft maintenance, repair and inspection techniques, tools and shop safety practices, and maintaining records required by the FAA.

This is a Waco-based, on-campus position. The salary range will be commensurate with background and experience and is anticipated to fall between $64,000 and $72,000 per year with full benefits.

This is a hands-on (non-managerial) position.

Essential Functions
  1. Demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students, and members of the community.
  2. Perform maintenance on TSTC aircraft while maintaining comprehensive records of all maintenance work performed, to comply with FAA and manufacturer requirements, and provide guidance to Aircraft Maintenance Technician I employees.
  3. Perform 100-hour inspections (or annual inspections, if qualified) on aircraft as needed.
  4. Position aircraft for maintenance.
  5. Attend maintenance training to enhance skills.
  6. Drive departmental vehicles to pick up and/or deliver parts or components. Participate in maintenance test flights.
  7. Travel for maintenance and recovery efforts of TSTC aircraft.
  8. Make recommendations to the Director of Aircraft Maintenance regarding tools, equipment, and consumables to increase the efficiency of the maintenance program.
  9. Establish an environment of candor, feedback, and open communication to resolve personnel, workflow, and safety issues.
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills
  1. High School diploma or equivalent. AAS preferred.
  2. At least two years of experience in maintaining General Aviation Aircraft.
  3. Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and tasks.
  4. Must have a complete set of hand tools.
  5. Embrace a culture of aviation safety and professionalism.
  6. Leverage technology to increase operational efficiency.
  7. Must be eligible to drive a State vehicle.
  8. Hold and maintain an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  9. Holding an FAA Inspection Authorization is highly desirable.
