Job summary

Precision Air in Florence, SC seeks a Chief Inspector to lead inspection teams, ensure compliant work release, and maintain complete records per FARs and RSQCM. The role directs inspection standards, methods, and procedures across the repair station’s activities.

The Chief Inspector will manage training, calibration, and documentation, ensuring airworthiness and data accuracy while maintaining ISO 9001 quality practices and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required, FAA Inspection Authorization - preferred.
• 8 years of experience in an FAA Part 145 Certified Repair Station with supervisory/inspector roles.
• Technical degree in Aviation related field; experience may offset degree.
• Working knowledge of FAA and FARs; experience with FAA preferred.
• Computer skills; EBIS experience highly desired.
• Knowledge of process improvement methodologies and applications.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Business writing for reports and correspondence; presentation skills.
• Planning and organizational skills for workload coordination.
• I SO 9001 Quality Management System compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train and manage repair station Inspectors.
• Ensure inspections are properly performed and records completed before release.
• Approve changes to forms and tags used by the repair station.
• Maintain access to up-to-date technical data and revisions.
• Ensure calibration and records of inspection tools and precision equipment.
• Prevent installation of defective, unserviceable, or unairworthy parts.
• Submit defect reports per 14 CFR 145.221.
• Oversee maintenance release and FAA Form 337 when needed.
• Guard against unapproved parts entering the parts system.
• Oversee tagging/identification of parts and quarantining unusable units.
• Maintain regulatory library including FAA regs and airworthiness directives.
• Compile work orders and inspection forms for traceability.
• Ensure entries on forms/work orders are complete.
• Comply with 14 CFR 121/125/129/135 carrier requirements under CAP.
• Maintain logs and work orders per 14 CFR Part 43 and carrier manuals.
• Serve as ISO Quality Manager; drive internal audits and continuous improvement.
